For those of you who read ERNIE in the newspaper, you know what to expect. For
those of you picking up Ernie for the first time, good luck. To help you keep
things straight, here`s what the major miscreants look like...

This is Ernie, except that since this photograph was taken, he shaved
off his moustache. He`s a bachelor, a college grad (Univ. of Bayonne), and
assistant manager of a Mr. Squid franchise.

This is Ernie`s uncle, Sid Fernwilter, entrepreneur, investor, and
perennial treasurer of a benevolent and protective organization known as the
Piranha Club.
|
|
Ethel, AKA Effie Munyon, is Ernie`s landlady, a poor cook, and Sid`s
daily free meal ticket.
|
|
Doris Husselmeyer is Ernie`s squeeze.
|
|
Spencer is her brother.
|
|
Arnold Arnoldski is our pubescent 18-year-old.
|
|
Enos Pork MD is as close as Sid comes to a friend. He`s also a very
bad doctor.
|
|
Earl is Sid`s beloved piranha.......mascot of the Piranha Club.
|
|
Then there`s Reverend Bob, Elvis Zimmermann who sells used cars, the
criminally insane Wurlitzer brothers, Frau Pork and her mom Mother Packer,
Sis`s neighbor Henslow, Zerblatt from the planet Grelzak, the last commie Joe
Zarinky, and God knows who else. No wonder people can`t figure out this
strip.
